| For Y2K my diet changed slightly..... I stuck to the same game plan as far as cycling my carbs and the dropping of 100-200 calories each week. The major changes were as far as Protein and Carbohydrate sources in the addition of new supplements. In '99 my main sources of protein were chicken and tuna. I swithched all the chicken to haddock/white fish which has a lower fat content which enabled me to be able to take in a few more carbs. I felt I had gained more muscle in '00 and was a lot stronger in my contest prep throughout the whole year. Upon joining AST I was able to add in a very important protein supplement VP2 which has proven to be 600% better then any other protein supplement on the market today. The extensive research and development that goes into AST's supplements give me total confidence that I am getting the best nutrients possible. I also used their product Nitro-Pro 40 when on the road, or in a particular circumstance (i.e. at work) where I was unable to eat a meal. In the past I have used oatmeal and potatoes as my main carb sources. In '00 I started using a product called Wheatena and Maltex which are wheat based cereals. They are lower in fat and a lot tastier when consuming so much a day. Other products that I incorporated into my contest prep are the following - Dymetadrine Xtreme ( great fat burner and appetite suppresant ) GL3 Glutamine ( essential for metabolism, muscle maintenance and protein synthesis ) Vanadyl Powder ( for uptake of glucose and aminos ) GABA ( plays a key role in the secretion of naturalgrowth hormones ) ProFlex ( protects joints, especially when training heavily pre-contest ) ALA 200 ( glucose transporter for a great pump!! ) Multi Vitamin ( essential to make sure I am getting in every needed vitamin possible ) |
| With the changes I made above in the year 2000/2001 I was able to keep my strength up throughout my whole contest preparation which enabled me to hold more muscle and come in even harder. I was totally happy with the way I looked that year and how everything came together so smoothly. Even though the outcome at the World Amateur Championships in Malaysia didnt turn out as I planned, I know I improved on my 2000 package.
